Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea (PAC) (Contemporary Arts Pavilion), Northeast Milan

Important contemporary art exhibition centre

featured in Sights & sites

PAC is Milan's most important centre for the exhibition of contemporary art, located in the heart of the city, near Porta Venezia's park.

The exhibition space was designed by the architect Ignazio Gardella in the 1950s and later reconstructed by him after the gallery was severely damaged by a Mafia bombing in 1993. The 1200 m2 space is centered around a central volume with three floors, surrounded by a beautiful garden which can be seen through the large windows on the ground floor.

Exhibitions feature both consecrated and new artists. Past shows have included works by Kounellis, Andrés Serrano, Richard Long, Yayoi Kusama, Laurie Anderson, Vanessa Beecroft or Duane Hanson.

The space boasts a workshop area for children, and they offer guided tours for adults.

Visitor comments

  • "A beautiful building with several wonderful exhibits. So glad we visited while in Milan. Wasn't very crowded. A little off the beaten path. We took the Hop On-Hop Off bus (blue line, stop 9) and then walked through a lovely park. Very impressive." - Trip Advisor
